Arrival, movement & planning
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport has selected services; many visitors arrive by road from Dubai. Resort and mountain transfers are best arranged in advance.
Taxis serve the city and resorts, but a car or driver is strongly recommended for Jebel Jais, Dhayah Fort, desert camps and northern villages.
Mountain temperatures and conditions differ from the coast. Check weather, road notices and activity requirements before travelling to Jebel Jais.
Entry rules depend on nationality. Passports should generally remain valid for at least six months; always confirm current visa requirements through official UAE channels before travel.
Travel insurance is recommended. Heat, sun and dehydration are the main everyday considerations; carry water and check personal medical advice before departure.
Police 999 · Ambulance 998 · Fire / Civil Defence 997 · Coastguard 996. These numbers can be used from anywhere in the UAE.
Traveller notes
Carry a warmer layer for winter evenings in the mountains.
Wear secure footwear for forts, wadis and mountain trails.
